1. Our “Privacy by Design” Principle

We believe that the best way to protect your data is to not have it at all.

  • No Accounts: You do not need to create an account or provide an email address to use our service.
  • No Tracking: We do not use invasive tracking cookies or fingerprinting technologies to identify you.
  • Zero Storage: We do not build profiles based on the images or documents you upload.

2. How We Handle Your Files

When you upload an image (JPEG, PNG, WEBP) or a PDF document to ExifAudit, here is exactly what happens:

  • Temporary Processing: Your files are uploaded to a secure, temporary directory on our server solely for the purpose of removing metadata.
  • Immediate Deletion: Our system is configured to move processed files into a secure download zone.
  • Automatic Shredding: We run an automated cleanup task every hour. Any file processed on our server is physically deleted within 24 hours at the absolute latest, though most are inaccessible immediately after your session ends.
  • File Integrity: We do not view, categorize, or share the content of your files. The processing is handled by automated scripts (PHP GD and binary filters).

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We intentionally avoid collecting the following:

  • Personal Identity: Names, phone numbers, or email addresses.
  • Location Data: While our tool removes GPS data from your photos, we never log or view that location data ourselves.
  • Metadata Logs: We do not keep logs of the metadata we have stripped (e.g., we don’t record that “User X uploaded a photo from an iPhone 15”).

4. Technical Data & Logs

Like most websites, our server may log basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and time of access. This information is used strictly for:

  • Preventing Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.
  • Monitoring server health and performance.
  • Aggregated, anonymous traffic analysis.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data during the brief window it exists on our server:

  • SSL Encryption: All file transfers are encrypted via HTTPS.
  • Secure Processing: We use internal image re-rendering to ensure that any malicious code embedded in an uploaded file is neutralized during the cleaning process.

6. Third-Party Services

ExifAudit does not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your files or data to outside parties. We do not use third-party image processing APIs; all “cleaning” happens on our own controlled server environment.
